Blog Tour Link #6 and Once Upon A Time.

Today, Rising Book 1: Resistance is featured over on the awesome Kate Johnston's blog. She posted about what it was like to see this book get written.

Today is also the last day to enter Laura's contest to win a paperback copy of Rising.

It's Sunday, and usually there's a new episode of Once Upon A Time on, though not tonight. I know quite a lot of people have been talking about it in blogs lately, but I'm curious: Do any of you watch the show Once Upon A Time, and if so, what do you think of it? What do you think of the way the stories interweave and how characters aren't always "good" and "bad," but far more layered and ambiguous? I'm loving it, and my kids are watching it with me--it's the first show they've watched me with me as it aired, so that's been fun. Of course, I'm a sucker for fairy tales anyway.

  1. I was "watching" a Twitter Q&A that Robert Carlisle (Mr Gold/Rumpelstiltskin) did last week, and someone asked him if his character was good, bad, in between, claiming that they just couldn't figure it out.

His reply was "No character should be easily unravelled." I loved that. :)

I don't know how old your kids are, but I stumbled across this set of paperdolls on Twitter today: http://www.tv.com/news/once-upon-a-time-pass-the-time-between-episodes-with-our-printable-paper-dolls-27763/?ref=tweet_button

Totally silly to have Once Upon a Time paper dolls... but I think my girls may totally like it. I'm so printing them out.

    *mildly OUAT-obsessed*

    Scratch the "mildly."

  2. I've been watching Once Upon A Time. I'm addicted to it, but it's been frustrating me at the same time. I love the way it goes into everyone's individual background, how they put the fairy tales in modern time, and (like you said) how hard it is to distinguish between good and evil. I thought the beauty and the beast episode was fantastic (rumpelstiltskin was awesome as the beast), I just wish they had the minor characters show up more often (they tell us all about one character, leaves us on a cliff hanger, and then don't mention them again for a few episodes). It's a good show overall- I just hope they answer all the questions they've brought up!

  4. This show is worth watching simply for the brilliance that is Rumplestiltskin :-)

  5. I haven't enjoyed a show as much as I'm enjoying OUAT since Gilmore Girls - I got sucked into the characters and the premise right off the bat. Like Morgan above, I get frustrated with all the minor characters who get introduced and then never seen again (though they brought Ashley and Sean back a couple of weeks ago - yay!), and I'm thoroughly disgusted with David right now - but overall, I love the show. Especially Snow/Mary Margaret and Emma!
